Have you too resorted to putting a smiley face at the end of your text messages, because people always read them wrong? How come "wana hng ot 2nte?" "no cnt" is always read as, "Why the heck would I want to hang out with you? Your an idiot." When it really did mean, I can't. If the textee wouldn't talk to the texter like that to their face, it is safe to assume they wouldn't do it in a text. Plain and simple.

Always try to assume the best. :)~
